POSTER DESIGN
Concept poster design for Max Richter's Sleep
SLEEP
Max Richter's Sleep was released in September of 2015. This 8 hour composition is meant to be listened to while asleep. To mark the release of the composition, Richter held a live performance of the entire piece. Audience members were given beds for the performance and were encouraged to sleep. This is a promotional poster concept for that performance.
DESIGN PROCESS
Design began with quick digital sketches that reflected ideas of sleep such as night, phases of the moon and the brain.
THREE DIRECTIONS
After numerous sketches, the process narrowed in on three ideas of sleep: sound waves, the stages of sleep and brain waves during sleep.
5 ELEMENTS 5 VERSIONS
The concept of brain waves and sound sound waves were combined. Than five different design elements were further explored create five new options for each element (a total of 25 design options). The researched elements included background, composition, lines, secondary text and typeface combinations. These explorations let to the final poster design.
